Energy Assessor Training
Anyone wanting to become a Green Deal Advisor who is not already an Energy Assessor has to do additional modules to become a Domestic (or Non Domestic) Energy Assessor (DEA or NDEA), this needs to be carried out before the GDA modules.
The Domestic Energy Assessor part of the course consists of,
3 face to face training days,
1 assessment day,
Online modules,
and an online portfolio system.
Asset Skills recommend a total of 120 hours is allowed to complete this part of the course but people experienced in the field may be able to complete in less time than this.
Day 1 is an introduction to Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and details the information that needs to be gathered (using a sample house)
Day 2 covers EPCs for flats and includes 2 trial EPC surveys (a house and a flat),
Day 3 covers additional issues and matters arising from the learners' work to date.
These days are normally a week apart.
The assessment day is normally about a month after Day 3, it includes an accompanied survey and for City and Guilds candidates only an exam (partly multi-choice, partly short written answers).
The portfolio consists of at least 5 sample EPCs (one of which can be the one from the assessment day) plus some method statements and explanatory letters etc.
